▌ Global
Warming, as Well as the
Ever-increasing High
Temperatures and Humidity Make
Anti-humidity Equipment a Necessity. |
|
• |
|
According to professional
studies, moisture in the air
will cause objects to mildew,
change in quality,
fade in color, become old,
age, grow water stains,
malfunction because of corroded
parts, cease to
function, have paper jam,
change in flavor, change in
pitch, lose the shine – the
perfect environment
in which fungi grow is:
temperatures between 20 and 38℃,
and humidity between 60 and 100%
RH.
Therefore, the damage and
aging to most objects have
mostly to do with humidity that
results in inconvenience
such as the loss and maintenance
of objects, the difficulty to
maintain, dispose and
repurchase – or visible,
invisible loss of assets. Taking
medicines or eating food that is
degenerative has potential
health risks, so it is
imperative that the above should
be avoided. |
|
|
This, in fact, includes: |
|
1. Industrial humidity hazards
jeopardize production process |
|
the results of various
surveys show that a main reason
causing over 25% of defective
industrial products is the
damage due to the nonexistence
of low-humidity storage; this
would include high- tech
photoelectric, electronic,
biotech, food, pharmaceutical,
optical industries, et al. Take,
for example, the electronic
industry that has the widest
applications, the stages of
defective production
process include
(a) damage due to
micro-cracks in the heating
process during SND/IC sealing
and packaging;
(b) the water hazard during
SMT reflow soldering because of
returned water temperature in
the
baking process;
(c) mildew and humidity
stains on LCD boards;
(d) IC oxidation due to
humidified sealing materials;
(e) interlayer separation
of PCB boards because of the
humidity generated by
temperature
variations, et al. |
|
• |
|
2. Storage of audio-visual data |
|
audio-visual storage media such
as audio (or video) cassettes or
discs, memory cards, classic
CDs and DVDs, various academic,
civil, business files, as well
as compressed data, et al, can
easily grow mildews that
deteriorate or destroy important
data and cause irrecoverable
damage
after extended desiccation of
moisture. |
|
• |
|
3. Photography-related work and
collections |
|
desiccation and mildewing can
happen to photographic equipment
such as regular digital cameras,
professional
cameras, binoculars, video
cameras, and microscopes, as
well as expensive and
sophisticated equipment relating
to optical measurements, eye
exams and health exams, and
items applied in automated
manufacturing, et al. Once the
lenses mildew, they are not able
to return
to the original sharpness even
though after repairs because
mildews are often invisible to
human
eyes. The damage and repurchase
incurred in videotaping and
photographic work will be
difficult to
estimate. |
|
• |
|
4. Paper products |
|
these include collections of
vintage stamps and money bills,
contracts and deeds, photo
albums,
important documents, books,
paintings, printing paper (paper
that desiccates moisture will
cause
printer jam and affect the
quality of printing), et al.
Paper that desiccates moisture
easily attracts dust
and becomes stained, as well as
forms water marks, mildews that
generates odor, et al, all of
which affects the value of the
collections. |
|
• |
|
5. Sophisticated inspection
equipment and materials |
|
these include digital equipment
such as mobile phones, MDs, et
al, and sophisticated equipment
relating to R &D engineering,
production process, military and
police intelligence, education,
medicine, inspection, network
administration and audio-visual
departments; also, photoelectric
semiconductor components, powder
materials, electronic parts,
accessories, samples, reagents
and metal materials, et al. They
are expensive and difficult to
obtain, so potential corrosion
and
metamorphosis due do humidity
will ultimately impact on the
progress and results of use,
inspection and R & D. |
|
• |
|
6. Household food and medicines |
|
it is easy for things such as
tea, coffee, powdered milk,
dried goods and food, Western
and Oriental
medicines, health foods, raw
materials for medicines or food
to attract moisture and become
hardened pieces, change in
quality and color, mildew,
change in flavor or even
generate cancer-
inducing ingredients that affect
the health and taste of your
family. |

▌An Analysis of Different
Anti-humidity Tools |
|
|
|
Dehumidifier |
This is limitedly
effective to
dehumidification of
space, but unable to
reach
the desired humidity for object storage. Humidity will rapidly rise up
once the
machine ceases to operate causing secondary humidity hazard; what is
also involved is power consumption, the need for water disposal and the
inability of continual dehumidification. |
|
Air Conditioning |
This is often used in
large-space
dehumidification to
solve the humidity
hazard of objects, but is often turned off after work hours for energy
conservation due to its massive consumption of electricity. Such an act,
however, lets the objects in the space incur moisture condensation and
counter-humidity resulting even more severe humidity hazard. As well, its
dehumidification limit is between 60% and 50% RH that cannot completely
solve the low-humidity storage problem of objects. |
|
Refrigeration |
This approach has
low-temperature
dehydration function,
but the incurred
temperature variation as objects are taken out of refrigeration causes
severe counter-humidity – objects usually have a layer of moisture on
them. |
|
use of Mepartricin |
This is a simple
approach to
dehumidification but
with limited effect;
also, it
has issues relating to environmental protection, safety, consumption,
environmental burden, et al. |
|
silica gel and sodium |
|
silicate |
|
|
|
|
Summarizing from the above, the
SATV electronic anti-humidity
cabinet is truly the Moisture
Buster
tailored-made for different
objects capable of fulfilling
all storage needs. There is a
variety of models
to choose from with humidity
range between 60% and 1 % RH.
Objects can be stored under
normal
temperatures, and have no issues
such as counter-humidity, water
disposal and noise. The cabinet
offers you round-the-clock
protection, and is
energy-saving, durable, safe and
comfortable, which is
truly the best choice to
terminate the humidity hazard. |

▌Warming Affects Humidity and
Jeopardizes Human Health |
 |
|
Last updated: 2007/10/11

Global warming not only makes
weather the hotter, but also the
staler ever. Precipitation
patterns
could be changed and made stronger, and more
typhoons would be likely due to
the increase in
humidity that also has the potential of impacting
human health.
According to a research report
published by British scientists
in Nature, the surface
temperatures of
earth from 1976 to 2004 have
increased, on average, 0.49
degree Celsius, and the humidity
near
earth surface has increased by
0.22%. The only explicable
reason, according to computer
simulations, is manmade global
warming.
Gillette, the leader of the
climate research team from The
University of East Anglia that
conducted
the study, said that humidity
could be increased to more than
12% by year 2100.
According to 卡克斯坦(?) who is a
researcher from Miami
University, the U.S., increased
humidity is
hazardous to the human body because this causes
the human body more difficult to
cool down.
Catherine Willet, the coauthor
of the research report said that
the increase in humidity is seen
throughout many regions of the
globe, but to the contrary, the
west coast of the U.S., some
parts of
Australia and South Africa are
getting drier.
This discovery is of no surprise
to climatologists, because
warmer air, by default, is able
to maintain
greater humidity, but the study
led by Gillette further shows
that the upward trend of
humidity is very
obvious and can be attributed to
the emission of greenhouse gases
due to the burning of fossil
fuels.
Gillette pointed out also that
the conditions will become worse
in the future; “the increase of
1
degree Celsius will result in an increase in
humidity by approximately 6%”,
said he. According to
the forecast of an intergovernmental taskforce
monitoring climate changes,
humidity will be up by
12% to 24% by year 2100.
“It increases the discomfort of
human beings despite the fact
that it is not lethal”, said
Gillette.
Another research report using
the same technique unveiled last
month also showed that the
humidity on the surface of the
oceans of the earth is
increasing, and again, the cause
is manmade
global warming.
Scientists have already noticed
that high temperatures will take
away more moisture from earth
and
ocean surfaces. There has been
the continual rise of the
earth’s humidity for the past
few
decades, but they were uncertain
if such a change was due to
natural causes or the impact
brought
by human beings to the climate,
because all the data was
regional and not global; also,
scientists a
pplied different approaches as
they engaged themselves in the
estimate.
The new research applied the
latest method in observing
humidity, and the obtained data
was
subsequently analyzed by a
powerful computer simulation
model on the earth’s climatic
system. |
